Life with animals and nature

We want to leave behind a better world. And we don't just want to talk about it...

"If you live in harmony with nature, you will never be poor; if you live according to people's opinions, you will never be rich." - Seneca

Who are we?

Jan Kuchynka

The first member of this group and founder of the public area in Obora Žleby. From the age of 15, he worked with birds of prey, falconers, at a falcon breeding facility in Germany, and at the Pavlov Rescue Center. In 2007, he founded his own station at his home, which he continues to develop to this day.

Ondřej Pelikán

He first joined Honza to help out at the Žleby Game Reserve in 2006. Over time, his initial focus on IT technology gave way to a love of animals and a desire to help them. Today, he focuses on the care and training of birds of prey, communication, environmental education, website management, and filmmaking techniques.

Lenka Pelikánová

She first came to the game reserve with Ondra in 2007 as a cashier. Since then, she has gained experience primarily in raising young birds and mammals, but also in management, so today she effectively manages our entire team and won't rest until everything is done.

What do we actually do and why?

If you love your job so much that you would do it for free, it is most likely your calling. - Dan Millman

Obora Žleby

  • The public part of the park is an area where people can come to see animals, birds of prey in free flight, entertain their children in a meaningful way, learn a lot of information, and relax in a beautiful place.

  • This area belongs to the state-owned company Lesy ČR, and we lease part of it for our work—namely, running a kind of mini zoo with animals native to our country. Mainly, there are birds of prey, owls, foxes, squirrels, wild boars, fallow deer, mouflons, roe deer, foxes, squirrels, storks, waterfowl, and others.

Lipec Rescue Center

  • We help injured animals and young animals that have lost their parents, giving them a second chance at life.

  • In our case, this work is neither subsidized nor paid; we have no employer or founder. We have built everything ourselves, using our own money or donations from smaller sponsors. We also raise the money for our operations ourselves.

  • It is an activity that makes us feel useful in society. Sacrificing our own time and comfort for a good cause is a feeling that is always worth it in the end.
